Goatfishes feed off the bottom of the ocean. Their distinctive feature is their long, tactile and highly sensitive barbels under the chin. They use their barbels to work constantly and busily over the bottom of the ocean, probing for small crustaceans and worms.
While they are often seen alone they sometimes gather into huge schools making a beautiful sight - like a shimmering gold curtain. They are excellent fishes for food.
